The Company Philosophy

Contents

Fast 'n' Easy Computers was founded in March 1994 to meet the needs of individual customers who required a little more than a box with a manual.

Recent developments in the PC industry have resulted in a refocusing of our energies towards computer services rather than hardware manufacture. We supply quality manufacturer's machines, sometimes with modifications, or we can get custom computers built to your specification and personalised by us. We add value with our experience of installation, configuration and maintenance. You can be sure that a machine we supply meets your purpose, is reliable and value for money.

We aim to help with the complicated tasks associated with PC ownership. Our 15 years experience comes pretty handy in this endevour.

Big IT consultancy service, offered at reasonable rates to small business and home users.

We are a member of the Personal Computer Association, the trade body of the UK PC industry, which means we maintain high standards in our dealings with our customers and we uphold the PCA Code of Practice.

If you require any further details about us or our products please give me a call on 0161-483-6656.

Phil Errington, PhD (Proprietor). (Feb 2008).

The Company Green Policy

Environmental Awareness

With the ever increasing demands on the environment we have taken certain steps to reduce the pressure our business exerts.

We currently recycle the following materials:

   * All cardboard.
   * Undamaged bubble wrap.
   * Non-plasticised paper.
   * All metals
   * Anti-static packaging (plastic).

All material not directly recycled is sent to registered disposal companies as required by law.

Paper usage policy

Paper we use in printing of manuals and other documents is non-plasticised and from renewable sources. All our office paper is recycled as is cardboard used for packaging.

Packaging

We try to re-use any bubble wrap packaging through donation to those requiring it for their own use.

Unfortunately other plastic packaging is a problem and we have yet to find a suitable recycling scheme.

We encourage customers requiring any packaging to contact us, as we have a ready supply for re-use. We have bubble wrap, poly chips, cardboard boxes of various sizes, padded boxes and good quality jiffy bags. All free.

Computer re-use policy

If you look at our second hand pages you will see a number of older items we are selling after trade in.

We try very hard to rebuild systems from components obtained through system take-back and resell any viable working equipment.

All components which cannot be used are sent for recycling or waste disposal though our recycling partners.

Asset Management

All UK companies now have requirements to manage items which could be classified as waste (Hazardous Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2005). We can advise and help other companies to comply.

If you have computer assets that have reached the end of their life we can accept these on your behalf, assess them and arrange reuse or disposal via authorised waste disposal agents.

Items we are concerned about.

CFCs. There was once widespread use of CFC solvents in the cleaning of printed circuit boards. To our knowledge all the manufacturers we currently deal with have moved away from this practice.

Disposal of waste computer items in domestic rubbish: It is now illegal (since 16 July 2005) for companies to "dump" computer items into domestic waste facilities, as these can end up in non-hazourdous landfill sites (where leakage may occur). We conform to the UK laws on disposal of our waste responsibly and encourage others to do so as well.

If you have knowledge of a manufacturer we supply, who is acting irresponsibly on enviromental matters, please mail me: Phil@fasteasy.com.

I am also interested in any views you have on our policy and how we may improve it.

Company History

March 21 1994

Following various requests for PCs from friends, Phillip Errington started the company from a bedroom at 22, Stamford Road, Longsight, Manchester.

486 DX40 processors were the high end at this time.

Late 1994 / Early 1995

We received our first orders from Manchester University departments:

We went on to sell over 1000 machines to the university over 12 years.

Early 1995

As the business expanded, Fast 'n' Easy expanded into 2 more rooms at Stamford Road.

Machines started to use the Intel Pentium processor.

February 1995

Following an armed robbery as we were delivering goods to an address in Rusholme, we lost confidence in our Longsight location (invoices had been stolen along with £2000 cash).

This prompted a move to Hazel Grove in Stockport.

February 1995 - Jan 1996

Our business ran out of 2 rooms on Hope Street, Hazel Grove during this period.

The lease ran out at the beginning of 1996, and so another move was required.

January 1996 - May 1997

Working from 5 Rowley Drive, Hazel Grove, the business expanded employing 3 separate people on a piecework basis.

June 1997 - Sept 1999

The business transferred to Lyme Road, Hazel Grove, where we built a custom-designed work room and used a large proportion of the house for storage.

Mark Stone, joined the company during this time.

June 1999

Larger orders and the desire for a retail area made us decide to move to our current location on the Marcliffe Industrial Estate, Macclesfield Road, Hazel Grove.

Work began on the shell unit we rented in June, ending in September.

A full rewire, networking, new floors and ceilings and new furnishings were needed.

September 1999

We moved into our current premises in September 1999.

March 2003

Neil Barham joins as Technical Manager replacing Mark Stone who moved on to UMIST.

January 2007

Business focus is now more focussed to business and home networking support. We increase our range of services and expertise.

November 2007

Full remote access support service is started. We can now offer support direct from our location to your PC, solving many problems without an on-site visit.

January 2008

We have ceased being a computer brand manufacturing machines as it is now too expensive and reglaratory to manufacture machines from scratch (but still upgrade and repair systems).

Our emphasis is now firmly focused on support, where we work with local companies as their IT expertise.

We still run a drop in and onsite repair service and source quality PCs and components for retail to local retail customers from our Hazel Grove premises.

January 2010

After the extended Christmas 2009 and big freeze January 2010 we return to fixing items and on site support. We also now offer bespoke database and CRM writing as well as laptop repairs.
